What the Workplace Grant Covers
AC Chargers (7-22 kW)
Standard workplace chargers for employee and visitor parking. Cars are typically parked for several hours, making 7 to 22 kW AC charging ideal. Brands include Zappi, Easee, EVBox, and Wallbox with OCPP compliance for interoperability.
DC Fast Chargers (50-150 kW)
For forecourts, retail locations, and high-throughput sites where vehicles need a rapid top-up. DC fast chargers from ABB, Tritium, and Kempower provide 80% charge in 20 to 40 minutes. Higher grant amounts apply due to higher equipment costs.
Backend Management Software
Commercial chargers include cloud-based management platforms for setting pricing, monitoring usage, generating revenue, and producing reports. Features include contactless payment, RFID access, and energy management.
Electrical Infrastructure
The grant covers electrical capacity planning, load management systems, cable installation, and all civil works. Load management technology allows multiple chargers to share available power without upgrading your electrical supply.

How to Apply for Workplace Charging
Site Assessment
A commercial EV charger installer assesses your premises: parking layout, electrical capacity, expected demand, and charger locations. They provide a proposal with grant calculations showing your net cost after the ZEVI grant.
Grant Application
Your installer prepares and submits the ZEVI workplace charging grant application through SEAI. The application includes site plans, charger specifications, and cost breakdown. Approval must be received before work begins.
Installation and Go Live
Your Safe Electric certified installer completes the installation, sets up the management platform, and configures payment and access. Submit completion documentation to SEAI to receive your grant payment.
